Virginia Madeline Reed "The Bike Lady" age 90 of Hinton, formerly of Sophia, Rhodell and Cleveland, OH departed this life to enter her eternal home on the morning of September 7, 2019 at Main Street Care in Hinton following a long illness.
Born February 14, 1929 in Richwood, she was the daughter of Wiley and Cleo Loudermilk Reed. She married Robert Dewey Reed on October 13, 1947 and they had four children, David, Robert, Richard and Patricia. Virginia worked for 32 years at Marsh Allen Industries in Cleveland, OH until her retirement in 1989. She loved the outdoors and put thousands of miles on her bicycle, participating in many bike-a-thons throughout the years to benefit St. Judes Childrens Hospital. She was a very special person who had never met a stranger and she was loved by all that knew her.
Virginia will be missed dearly by her three children that survive her, Patricia Thompson (John) of Hinton, Richard Reed of Hinton and Robert Reed (Kum-Hui) of Madison, AL; five brothers, Carl, Billy, Eugene, Maynard and Richard Reed; one sister, Delores McKinney, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside service and burial will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday September 11, 2019 Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley with Pastor Gary Eskins officiating. Friends may gather at the cemetery from 11:30 am until time of service.
