Virginia Roseanna "Rosie" Smith, 53, of Tug Creek went home to be with the Lord Saturday January 31, 2015 at Summers County ARH Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born January 1, 1962 at Hinton she was the daughter of Hazel Clay Wiedenhoft of Falls Mills, VA and the late Merlin McKinnely Cyrus. A highway contractor for the United States Postal service serving the Lerona area, former member of Summers County Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 13, she love painting, growing flowers, and especially spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Frances Hicks; paternal grandparents, Homer and Jenny Cyrus; aunt, Carol Jo Ellen and nephew, Clifford Meadows.
Besides her mother those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 34 years, Chris "Pooh Bear" Smith of Tug Creek; two sons, Jonathan Smith of Oak Hill and Christopher "Deke" Smith and companion Beverly Ward of Hinton; one daughter, Katrina Shannon Smith and husband Donnie of Tug Creek; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Donnie, Kadince, Karlee, Paige and Logan; one sister, Geneva Tincher and husband Edgar of Alderson; two brothers, Jennings Cyrus of Hinton and Paul Cyrus and wife Melissa of Hinton and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she deeply loved.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday February 6, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Eddie Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Cyrus Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
