Wanda Lea Holmes, 80, of Summersville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division following a short illness.
Born April 10, 1931 at Birch River she was a daughter of the late Clarence Howard "Goog" and Mildred Mae Dodrill Holmes.
Wanda was a Christian by faith. She was a cook for many years and was an avid golf and baseball fan who loved crocheting and enjoyed spending her time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Jeraldine Wilson and Beulah Jean Leichti and one brother, James Howard Holmes.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Salomon and husband William of Summersville and Patsy Sigman and husband David of Cowen; two granddaughters, LeeAnne Hanger and husband Len of Beckley and Sarah Selman and husband Shawn of Cowen; two great grandsons, William Tyler Dorsey of Beckley and Daniel Shawn Selman of Cowen; one sister, Patricia Ann Holmes Propps and husband Delbert of Birch River; her beloved pet, Poochie and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Wanda's friends and family will be held Friday evening, January 13, 2012 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Birch River Volunteer Fire Department at Birch River to celebrate her life. At her request the body will be cremated following the visitation.
