Wanda Mae Wills Epperly Johnson, 80, of Oak Hill, formerly of Nimitz, slipped away peacefully into the presence of God Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Bowers Hospice House following a battle with Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s may have taken her memories of us but our memory of her will live forever.
Born April 9, 1942 at Fall Rock she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Estill Wills Sr. and Ina Louise Smith Lilly.
Wanda was a 1960 graduate of Hinton High School. She attended Beckley Beauty Academy as an empty-nester working at Harvey’s Wig Villa then opening her own shop in Nimitz, Wanda’s Hair Fair. Wanda attended Cranberry Baptist Church in Beckley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, S.G. “Shirley” Epperly; one sister, Shirley Richardson and two brothers, Jack Austin and Lawrence Wills Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Glen Darrell Johnson at home; one daughter, Debbie Epperly Rogers of Nashville, TN; one grandson, Robert Paul Rogers (Breanne) of Coram, MT; one granddaughter, Jill Ellis Trout (Jacob) of Nimitz; nine great grandchildren, Theophilus, Alem, Aidah and Zadok Rogers, Dawson, Oakley, Eleanor, Finegan and Ranger Trout; one brother, James “Jimmy” Wills of Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Mary Cumbee (Bill) of Salem, VA and Carol Bennett of Meadow Creek and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services and burial will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery with Pastor Roger Smith and Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 10:30 A.M. until time of service. At her request her body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
