Mrs. Wanda J. Yancey, 69, of Hinton went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Summers County Appalachian Hospital following a long illness. Born May 31, 1940 in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sally Ellis Cook. Mrs. Yancey had lived most of her life in Summers County where she was a member of the Jumping Branch Gospel Tabernacle. Retired from Summers County Appalachian Hospital as a Nursing Assistant where she spent many hours caring for and loving other people and she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. Preceded in death by one son, Randy A. Yancey, one great-granddaughter, Bre Anna Petrey and one sister, Victory Yancey. Survived by two sons, Andy Yancey and wife Theresa of Lynchburg, VA and Timothy Yancey and fiancé Denise Pakacki of Bellepoint; two daughters, Audrey Adkins and husband George of Pipestem and Kathy Meadows and husband Bill of Bellepoint; two daughter-in-laws, Barbara Zinzin of Madison Heights, VA and Beverly Yancey of Forest Hill; four sisters, Glenda Eads of Nimitz, Lois Conley of Madison Heights, VA, Peggy Moses of Lynchburg, VA and Thelma Sperlick of Hanahan, SC; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral parlors. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
