William A. Martin, 80, of Talcott, passed away at 7:55 P.M. Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born September 11, 1928 at Judson he was a son of the late Waitman Esco and Ethel Mae Grimmett Martin.
A lifelong resident of Summers Co. he was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways with 25 years of service. Bill was of the Baptist faith and he loved gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Woodrow and Kenneth Martin; two sisters, Regina Martin and Pansey Fox and two infant sisters, Phyllis Jean and Verna Mae Martin.
Survived by his loving wife, Goldie Marie Richmond Martin of Talcott; two daughters, Joyce M. Ewing and companion Joseph Rexroad of Hinton and Rebecca Harris and companion Donald Pontius of Del Reno, TX; three grandchildren, Ryan Dodd, Brandon Ewing and Christopher Harris; step granddaughter, Tonya Keaton; one brother, Elliott Martin and wife Naomi of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Mona Roach and husband Ernie of Indianapolis, IN and Ruth Martin of Talcott and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Ray Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Keller Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Lowell. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
