William R. â??Billâ?? Gore 72, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord, Thursday January 29, 2009 at the Select Unit located in St. Francis Hospital in Charleston following a sudden illness. Born November 12, 1936 at Hinton he was a son of the late William Jason and Virginia Hunter Gore. Bill retired from the Bell Atlantic telephone company in 1992 with over 37 years of service. He was a member of the Pioneer Club of retired telephone employees who work to service their communities. As a member of the West Virginia National Guard, Lieutenant Gore served in the Howitzer Battery of the 1/150th Armored Calvary and was called to active duty during the Cuban missile crisis. Bill was member of the local BPOE for forty five years and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He also served a term as a Councilman for the City of Hinton and a term as County Commissioner for Summers Co. during the renovation of the court house. Bill attended the Riverview Chapel since youth and more recently the First Baptist Church of Hinton. He was the beloved husband of Jean Brabb with 45 years of marriage, and the devoted Dad of daughter, Kristi R. Scott and her husband Jack and son, James Jason Gore and wife Melinda all of Hinton. Four very special grandchildren, Russell and Taylor Scott and Krystina and Ella Jean Gore, also surviving are one brother, James â??Jimâ?? Gore and wife Janet Sue â??SuSuâ?? of Hinton, and one sister, Shirley Jo Richmond and husband Bob of Meadow Creek. He had and has a very special place in the hearts of his family. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 6-9 P.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors. Gary McClure, Greg Vandall, Eugene Jones, Michael Toler, Brian Bennett, Randy Rhodes, Tom Scott, Bob Farley, Bob Thompson and David Dewitt will serve as pallbearers. Tom Clinebell, Don Dewitt, Greg McClure, Clifford McClure, Jack Scott Sr., Ray Rudisill, Bill Criddle, Charlie Rice, Pat Brandon, Tink Ritter and J.B. Runyon will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the Summers Co. Toy Fund, P.O. Box 67, Nimitz, WV 25978.
