William R. â??Billâ?? Bennett, 72, of 1319 Temple St., Hinton, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at his home, following a long illness. Born at Ronceverte, September 30, 1933 he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Mazie A. Morgan Bennett. Bill was a retired Engineer for the CSX Corp, with 43 years of service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended the Riverview Chapel in Hinton. Preceded in death by one brother, Joseph T. Bennett Survived by his wife of 50 years; Helen Gore Bennett, one daughter; Sherry Shaffer of Summersville; one granddaughter, Kelly Shaffer of Summersville; two sisters, Sue B. Shanklin, of Charleston and Debbie Pettry and husband David of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Harry Pilkington officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday. Pallbearers: Brian and Steve Bennett, C.D. and Jonathan Pettry and Mike, Perry and Jimmy Gore.
