William E. Rogers Sr., 76, of Clay County passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at his home following a long illness.
Born August 15, 1939 in Scarbro, he was a son of the late Matthew H. Rogers and Virginia B. Bishop Rogers.
Ed had served in the Navy. He enjoyed his home, doing yardwork, painting and spending time with family and friends.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Sue Jarrell Rogers; two brothers, Jack Rogers and Franklin Rogers; four sisters, Maxine Thompson, Evelyn Jean Davis, Louise Devanthal and Shelby Nottingham and his beloved best friend, his dog, Pinkie Rogers.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, William E. Rogers Jr. and Timothy Matthew Rogers (Lisa); one daughter, Linda J. Rogers; three grandchildren, Matthew V. Rogers, Tyler Edward Rogers and Lauren Shea (Matt); two great grandchildren, Matthew and Madison Hatfield; three sisters, Mary Weaver, Sandra Christian (Oliver), Joann McMahan. Many nieces, nephews friends and loved ones also survive.
A gathering of friends and family will be held noon Saturday at his home. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to his children.
