William C. â??Tedâ?? Smith, 88, of Hinton, went to be with his wife Gladys, August 29, 2008 at 3:50 P.M. at the Villages of Greystone in Beaver WV following a long illness. Born June 23, 1920 at Sophia, he was a son of the late William M. and Mary Harriet Jessup Smith. Ted was a member of the Springfield Primitive Baptist Church in Greenville. Master Sergeant Smith served in the United States Army for 24 years, proudly serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He became a Mason in 1972 and was a member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M.; a charter member of the Hilldale-Talcott Ruritan Club having served as President and Lower West Virginia Ruritan District Zone Governor.Preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Elizabeth Canterbury Smith, January 14, 2008; one brother, Jasper Smith and brother-in-law, Beryl Boggs.Left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Judith Carol Dolphin and husband Ed of Forest Hill, his son; William Lee â??Jackâ?? Smith of Forest Hill, five Grandchildren; Sgt. First Class Marc E. Dolphin and wife Randi, Sean Patrick Dolphin and wife Michele, Christine Lynn Hughes and husband Martin, Catherine Elizabeth Allan and husband Josh and Tara Lee Canales and husband Ricardo, two step grandchildren; Sunday and Cody Pellicano; nine Great Grandchildren; Kyle Bailey Cooper, Alexis, Eliana, Will, Abigail, Elizabeth and Emily; one brother, Dainer Smith and wife Dorothy of Avenel, NJ; one sister, Helen Boggs of Chester, VA and a sister-in-law, Pat Smith of Pace, Fl. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 2, 2008 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens with full military graveside honors. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Monday.
