Wilma Lucille Yancey Surber, 84, of Harrisonburg, VA, died at 7:20 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Born April 18, 1920 at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Oscar B. and Martha Smith Yancey.
Wilma was a graduate of Hinton High School and Clifton Forge School of Nursing and had worked in nursing homes and as a private duty nurse for many years. She was an avid fisherman and loved playing bingo and gardening.
Preceded in death by her husband Francis H. Surber and one son, Steven H. Surber.
Survived by one daughter, Sue Noel and husband Jim of Harrisonburg, VA; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Surber of Hinton; four sisters, Helen McEvoy of Corte Madera, CA, Elizabeth Schroeder of Hinton, Janet Lilly and husband Damon of Pipestem and Nancy Britt of Eagle Rock, VA; four grandchildren, Scott, Missy, Teri and Kimberly; seven great grandchildren, Ariana, Kayla, Lincoln, Reese, Kevin, Kendall and Gage.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from noon until 1:00 PM.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
