Yonnie Lee Bennett, 78, of Madams Creek passed away Friday November 24, 2017 at her home following a long illness.
Born November 14, 1939 at Summers County she was the daughter of the late Marlin M. and Donnie Ward Meadows. She was of the Baptist Faith, former employee of G.C. Murphy Co. and Fox's Bypass Market. Yonnie enjoyed camping, gardening and the outdoors, grooming her yard and spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Floyd (Wayne) Bennett; one sister, Janice Ballard; one brother, Terry "Snookie" Meadows and two infant brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sue Ballard and husband Mike of Pipestem and Kim Downard and husband Jeremy of Madams Creek; four grandchildren, Adam Ballard and wife Nicole of Lerona, Kevin Ballard of Pipestem, and Colleen and Gwen Downard of Madams Creek; one step granddaughter, Sara Watts and husband C.J. of Tabor City, NC; four great grandchildren, Christian, Kailey, Karsyn and Addalee Ballard; three sisters, Bettie Gwinn of Jumping Branch, Marlene Townsley and husband Paul of Danville and Wilma Foster of Miamisburg, OH; Two brothers-in-law, Jackie B. Bennett and wife Martha of Madams Creek and William C. "Poody" Ballard of Hinton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday November 28, 2017 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral parlors.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
