Zelda Wayne Fields Gibson, 93, of Hilldale went home to be with the Lord with her three loving daughters by her side Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her home following a long illness.
Born December 3, 1931, in Kayford, WV she was a daughter of the late George Denward and Inez Irene Wayne Fields.
Zelda was a Licensed Practical Nurse having worked for Charleston Area Medical Center, Cabin Creek Clinic, and Carbon Doctor’s office. She was a member of Curves, Eastern Star, the Ruritan Club, and the Ladies Ministry Auxiliary. Zelda enjoyed cooking, crocheting, spending time with her daughters, eating out and camping on Kayford Mountain a place which was dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Hoot” Gibson; two brothers, Darrell Denward Fields and Harold Dean Fields; granddaughter, Jana Michelle Dawson and sons in law, Luther Stapleton and David Leake.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Georgeanna Leake, Diana Leffew and husband Frank, and Darla Stapleton; ten grandchildren, Tommy, April, Shawn, Christopher, Michelle, Luther, Vernon, Austin, Michael, and Stacy; twenty-one great grandchildren; one brother, William Enos Fields.
Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Friday March 14, 2025, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Eddie Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the Montgomery Memorial Park at London, WV. Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of services at the funeral parlors. Grandsons and family members will serve as pallbearers.
